Automated Garden

Growing up, my family always had a garden, but I never particularly enjoyed the maintenance that came with it. I loved the idea of fresh, homegrown ingredients—just not the constant watering and weeding.

So, I set out to create a garden that would provide a fresh harvest with significantly less upkeep.

I built a raised garden bed on a sloped hillside and filled it with a combination of garden and potting soil. An irrigation system connected to a timer provides consistent watering on a set schedule, eliminating the need for daily manual watering.

To further reduce maintenance, I added a plastic ground cover to help retain moisture and minimize weed growth, cutting small openings for each plant.

The result is a simple, efficient garden that requires far less maintenance—giving me more time to enjoy the harvest and less time spent working on the garden.

Sometimes, the best solution is simply finding a more innovative way to do it.
