This project involved the complete replacement and upgrade of an existing 100-amp electrical service with a new 200-amp service and panel, providing increased capacity and an improved service configuration.
The existing meter location was relocated and a new meter socket installed to provide a more direct and accessible path for the utility service conductors. Rigid metal conduit (RMC) was installed through the soffit and roof to establish the required routing and elevation between the service equipment and utility transformer. The roof penetration was properly sealed and weatherproofed to maintain the integrity of the roof assembly.
The original service configuration presented several challenges, including the location of the existing conductors near a drainage area, limited elevation, unfavorable conductor angles, and obstructing vegetation. The new configuration addressed these conditions by establishing a safer, more direct, protected, and accessible service-conductor pathway while improving utility access and maintenance.
Following completion, the installation underwent an independent third-party electrical inspection and successfully passed, verifying compliance with the applicable electrical code, safety, and project requirements.
